WE'RE FINALLY HERE!!! 4 YRS Later, bragging rights over, the time has come to defend the coveted championship, the most beautiful trophy in all of professional sports, standing 14.4'' tall, weighing 13 lbs, made up of 75% 18 carat gold, embellished with two layers of malachite, this is what 32 countries go to battle for...the absolute holiest of grails...THE FIFA WORLD CUP 2010!!!
Taking place in beautiful South Africa, may be a little far, and costly, but Montreal lacks no passion or love for the beautiful game. Supporters from every part of the globe will be cheering on their favs for a shot at the title, with so many great little hubs around the city to catch games. Luckily i'll have the chance to actually catch the knockoff stages of the tournament in beautiful Rome, as of early July, lets hope the Azzurri can make it there, as the competition is fierce and all eyes are on the prize. Dethroning the Italian national team is what 31 other countries have set out to do, it'll be a tournament of EPIC proportions, or maybe thats just how damn excited i am. I'VE GOT WORLD CUP FEVER...but nothing will make this more memorable than having to complete my wager to my lovely girlfriend as i promised her, no check that, i pinky swore, that i will go streaking at Trevi Fountain in Rome if the Azzurri repeat as WC Champions! But i'm a realist...my heart is with the green, white n' red, but the odds are stacked against the defending champs. Will history repeat itself???...we'll just have to wait and see...with this being said....LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
